On 18th July 2025, DAV Public School successfully conducted a **Disaster Preparedness Drill** as part of its annual safety awareness program. The drill aimed to educate students and staff on how to respond swiftly and safely in the event of natural or man-made disasters such as earthquakes, fires, and other emergencies.
The program began at 11:00 AM with a briefing session by the **School Disaster Management Committee**. Teachers explained the objectives of the drill and demonstrated basic safety procedures. Shortly after, a mock earthquake alarm was sounded. Students were instructed to perform the **“Drop, Cover, and Hold”** technique and then calmly evacuate the classrooms in an orderly manner.
Evacuation was completed in 5 minutes showcasing the effectiveness of prior training sessions. Designated safety officers, including teachers and student volunteers, guided students to the pre-assigned assembly points in the school ground.
The disaster drill was an informative and eye-opening experience, reinforcing the importance of *disaster readiness, teamwork, and presence of mind* in critical situations.
