DAV Public School, Kailash Hills, in collaboration with Rotary Delhi Mankind, organised an informative and sensitising talk on Menstrual Hygiene and Awareness for the girls of Classes VI, VII and VIII. The programme aimed to create awareness about the menstrual cycle, the physical and emotional changes associated with puberty, and the importance of maintaining proper hygiene and nutrition during menstruation.The session was conducted by eminent medical professionals Dr. C. K. Bakshi and Dr. Anita Duggal, who shared their valuable knowledge, professional expertise and practical guidance with the students. The doctors encouraged the girls to understand menstruation as a natural and healthy biological process rather than something to be embarrassed or hesitant about.The speakers explained the menstrual cycle in a simple and age-appropriate manner and discussed the various changes that take place in the body during adolescence. They addressed common concerns related to periods and emphasised the importance of maintaining personal hygiene, using appropriate menstrual products, changing them regularly and disposing of them responsibly.Special emphasis was laid on nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits during menstruation. The students were guided to follow a balanced and nutritious diet, stay adequately hydrated and ensure sufficient rest and physical activity. The doctors also highlighted the importance of listening to one's body and seeking guidance from parents, teachers or healthcare professionals whenever they experience any unusual discomfort or health concerns.The programme concluded with a vote of gratitudeby Principal Ms.Monika Paliwal,to the doctors and the parent Club , Delhi Mankind for their valuable time, guidance and support. The awareness talk was highly enriching and impactful, leaving the students better informed about their bodies and more confident in taking care of themselves during menstruation.
