Event Start Date : 25/06/2026 Event End Date 27/06/2026

A two-day Capacity Building Programme for Social Science teachers was organised on 25th and 27th June 2026 under the guidance of the DAV Centre for Academic Excellence (DAVCAE) at D.A.V. Public School, Kailash Hills. Teachers from ten different DAV schools actively participated in the workshop, making it a collaborative platform for professional learning, knowledge sharing and pedagogical enrichment.
The programme commenced with the DAV Gaan, followed by the formal welcome of all participants. The Principal addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of continuous professional development, dedication to teaching and collaborative learning in enhancing classroom practices.
The workshop featured a series of enriching sessions conducted by experienced Master Trainers and Resource Persons. The sessions focused on strengthening classroom pedagogy in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the NCERT competency-based curriculum. Teachers explored innovative approaches such as activity-based learning, experiential learning, competency-based teaching and assessment, inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, critical thinking and inclusive classroom practices.
One of the key sessions, "From Activity to Understanding: Using Lab Journals in Classrooms," demonstrated how well-designed lab journals can transform classroom activities into meaningful learning experiences by promoting observation, reflection and conceptual understanding. Participants also engaged in a hands-on activity where they designed observation sheets for field visits and laboratory activities for different academic terms.
A rejuvenating yoga session titled "From Stress to Strength: Yoga for Teachers' Calm Mind and Strong Self" encouraged participants to practise simple yoga asanas for improving physical fitness, mental well-being and emotional balance.
Another engaging session focused on the integration of Artificial Intelligence in Social Science classrooms. Participants were introduced to AI-enabled educational tools such as Mentimeter, MagicSchool AI, TeachBetter AI and NotebookLM. The trainers explained their applications, advantages and limitations and demonstrated their effective use in lesson planning, classroom instruction and assessment. The importance of maintaining structured lab journals and conducting activity-based learning through observation and documentation was also highlighted.
The workshop also addressed the evolving curriculum through a session on Curriculum in Transition, where participants analysed the revised Class IX Social Science curriculum. Teachers examined thematic concepts, curricular goals, competencies and learning outcomes while comparing the previous syllabus with the revised curriculum.
An interactive demonstration on adapting to curriculum changes was followed by collaborative group activities. Participants designed innovative lesson plans on topics such as Oceans and Life, Early Humans and Civilizations, and From Ideas to Start-ups. Each group presented its lesson plan, encouraging peer learning, constructive feedback and the exchange of best teaching practices.
Overall, the two-day Capacity Building Programme proved to be an enriching professional development experience. It enhanced teachers' pedagogical competencies, familiarised them with emerging educational technologies, strengthened collaborative learning, and inspired them to adopt innovative teaching strategies aligned with contemporary educational goals.
